Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 24 June 2024 asking for information about Underground Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Your specific questions and our answers, regarding LUL Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), are as follows:
  1. SOP for falls and injuries by passengers.
London Underground doesn’t implement Standard Operating Procedures for falls and injuries by passengers. When customers suffer injuries as a result of falls or other incidents, station staff will assist by requesting emergency service to attend via the London Underground Control Centre. A good number of our station staff are first aid trained and they would also offer assistance. The Customer Service Manager/Supervisor on duty will make sure that details of any station incident are recorded as required. Procedures for dealing with customers injuries and illness on London Underground premises are covered by TfL Management System and London Underground Rule Book 11 Station Management.
  1. What related medical equipment is there at stations for trips/falls.
London Underground stations are equipped with standard first aid kits or emergency dressing packs (sterile dressings, wound dressings, paramedic shears and cling film) in addition to public accessible defibrillators, stretchers and silver blankets.
  1. Which underground lines have temporary wheelchairs for use of passengers whilst at the station.
None of our LU stations have wheelchairs available for customer to use.
