We answered
TfL Ref: 0905-2122
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 July 2021 asking for information about the Cost Recovery of every bus route within the borough of Croydon.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
By the ‘Cost Recovery’ you are asking for, we understand this to be the fares revenue of a route compared to its cost – i.e. how much ‘profit’ or ‘loss’ it makes.
We publish all the data that can be used to estimate cost recovery per route on our website at the following links:
Average yield per passenger journey is here: https://content.tfl.gov.uk/tfl-annual-report-2019-20.pdf - given on page 73 at 68p per trip; so yield (revenue) per route per year can be estimated with the 2019/20 usage per route
In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
