Exit information - London Overground, TfL Rail and Tram
Request ID: FOI-0872-1920
Date published: 15 July 2019
You asked
Further to the request I made earlier, I would like to have the same information for the Overground, TFL rail and tram as well. In other words, is it possible that I can have the exit information of each station (exit name, latitude, longitude, opening hours and time from platform to the exit) for London Underground, DLR, Overground, TFL Rail and tram, please?
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-0872-1920
Thank you for your request of 25th June 2019 asking for information about station exits across the TfL network.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
You asked the following, further to your previous request of 13th June 2019 (ref 0756-1920):
“Further to the request I made earlier, I would like to have the same information for the Overground, TFL rail and tram as well. In other words, is it possible that I can have the exit information of each station (exit name, latitude, longitude, opening hours and time from platform to the exit) for London Underground, DLR, Overground, TFL Rail and tram, please?”.
My response to your previous case addressed the request as it relates to the London Underground and the Docklands Light Railway (explaining that to source all of the requested information would exceed the costs threshold specified in the FOI Act, but providing some information that was readily to hand. Further to that, our response to your later request referenced 0983-1920 provided the longitude and latitude of DLR station exits). This response under reference 0872-1920 is therefore in relation to the London Overground, TfL Rail and Trams only.
I can confirm that we hold the information you require. However, to source it all would again exceed the £450 (18 hour) limit specified under section 12 of the FOI Act. Not all of the information has been collated before, and we estimtate that to do so would take longer than 18 hours – for example, to calculate the time it would take to walk from each of the station platforms to each exit would itself take a disproportinate amount of time. That said, I can provide some of the requested information, where it is readily available, as follows.
The list below shows all the stations managed by MTR Crossrail (TfL Rail), the longitude and latitude of each station, and a link for each station which provides more details about it on the National Rail Enquiries website (including layout, maps of the station and exits, facilities and accessibility access, and when the station is staffed – note that the same site can be used to find out similar information about London Overground stations):
The attached document shows the latitude and longitude of stops on the tram network. Tram stops are unstaffed and do not open or close (like a bus stop they are constantly accessible). Tram stop exits are not named, and platforms have entrances and exits on them so there is no time taken to walk from platform to exit as you would get at a mainline station where the platforms may be some distance from the exit (with the exception of Elmers End, where this is a short walk).
In relation to the London Overground, we do not have longitude and latitude information to hand, but this could be sourced online using freely available map websites. Every station is open for 15 minutes before the first train and 15 minutes after the last train.
