FOI request detail

Automated announcements.

Request ID: FOI-0826-1819
Date published: 24 July 2018

You asked

I last emailed an FOI to you just over a year ago asking for the CD of all automated announcements which you sent to me. It included - London Overground stations / London Overground onboard / TFL Rail onboard / Croydon Tram onboard / Riverbus ferry / Woolwich ferry / Ibus - announcements. However you refused to give any London Underground announcements because of legal reasons with Global Services Limited. However i have done some research and have found out that the Northern Line onboard announcements and Jubilee Line onboard announcements and Piccadilly Line onboard announcements are done by a separate company called KETECH (previously known as DITRA). This is the same company that does those London Overground announcements that you often give out to people. So i believe the Jubilee/Northern/Piccadilly lines onboard automated announcements should be covered by the FOI Act. It seems that it is the Bakerloo / Central / Circle / District / Hammersmith & City / Metropolitan / Victoria / Waterloo & City lines that are provided by Global Services Limited. So could you please send to me all of the onboard automated announcements for the Jubilee/Northern/Piccadilly lines. And please could you also include any old onboard announcements and recordings for the Jubilee/Northern/Piccadilly lines that are no longer used.

Our Ref:         FOI-0826-1819

Thank you for your request received on 27 June 2018 for a copy of the on-board announcements for the Jubilee/Northern/Piccadilly (JNP) lines.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and TfL’s information access policy. I can confirm we do not hold the information you have requested.

The on train announcements for the JNP lines are not held in any central repository and are not ‘recorded’ as such. The files are held by KeTech in a format that is not accessible as they are created by hardware on the train as opposed to being specific audio files for each message.

Please accept our apologies that we are unable to assist you further on this occasion.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
