Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 8 July 2021 asking for information about road casualties in London in 2020. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Your questions and our replies are as follows:
1. How many were casualties in total? 21,001 2. How many died? 96 3. How many were victims of hit and run*? 7,264 4. How many of them died? 14 5. How many were pedestrian casualties? 1,306 6. How many pedestrians died? 12
* Please note that this only includes ‘hit and run’ and does not include ‘failed to stop’. In many cases the driver or rider subsequently reports the incident.
