Freedom of Information request - Asbestos survey report for Jubilee line extension

Request ID: FOI-0684-1920
Date published: 24 June 2019

You asked

Dear Transport for London, Please would it be possible to see the asbestos survey report for the Jubilee line extension stations?

We answered

Our ref: FOI-0684-1920/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4 June 2019 asking for the asbestos survey report for the Jubilee line extension stations.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we do not hold the information you require. Following the ban of crocidolite (blue) and amosite (brown) asbestos in 1985, a total ban on the use of all asbestos in construction came into force in the UK in 1999. Although the Jubilee Line Extension was constructed just before this, the use of asbestos in construction materials leading up to 1999 was very limited. The controls on the materials used on the Jubilee Line Extension (JLE) project would mean that asbestos would not have been used so these stations can be deemed asbestos free and as such no asbestos surveys have been undertaken for JLE stations.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
