Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 1 June 2018 asking for information about planning applications.
Your request has been processed in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you requested. You asked for:
The number of planning applications for new homes on Transport for London land granted in (a) 2017/18 and (b) 2018/19.
One planning application was granted for new homes on TfL land / land formerly in TfL ownership in 2017/18. This year it is expected that a minimum of 10 planning applications will be made for housing-led developments on TfL land.
The number of homes that the existing planning applications will realise.
The planning application that was granted in 2017/18 was for 149 new homes. The 10 or more applications in 2018/19 are expected to generate at least 1,250 homes.
Over the last two years we have increased the pace of our property development programme. In 16/17 we released five sites which will deliver 1,000 homes, 50 per cent of which are affordable. We managed to increase our pace in 17/18, and were able to unlock land which will deliver over 3,800 homes, half of which will be affordable.
This increase in pace is also reflected in planning applications. One planning application was granted for new homes on TfL land / land formerly in TfL ownership in 2017/18, for 149 new homes. This year, we expect that a minimum of 10 planning applications will be made for housing-led developments on TfL land generating at least 1,250 homes.
We now have an established development pipeline, and are on track to start on sites which will deliver 10,000 homes by 2021.
