Is the night tube expansion going ahead to include the metropolitan line? When is this planned for, what year? Will the metropolitan line night tube run to Harrow-on-the-Hill?

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 July 2020 asking for information about the expansion of the Night Tube.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
It is the stated intention of both TfL and the Mayor to expand Night Tube when it is operationally and financially appropriate to do so. The feasibility of Night Tube on the Metropolitan line, including any services to Harrow-on-the-Hill, will be reviewed after the current Four Lines Modernisation signalling upgrade is completed. The programme creates heavy access demands for the Metropolitan line track during engineering hours, which is when Night Tube would run. We are currently forecasting that this programme will not be completed until 2023. We will also need to take into consideration the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on passenger demand and what this means financially for TfL before we look to increase services in any way, including introducing Night Tube on new lines.
The impact of current circumstances on TfL’s resources means we are not able to answer FOI requests readily and we ask that you please do not make a request to us at present.
