Rotherhithe Bridge Costs

Request ID: FOI-0635-1920
Date published: 19 June 2019

You asked

Please confirm the total costs of the Rotherhithe Bridge (crossing) project for the close of business as at the 31st May 2019. As TfL operate a 4 week cost cycle, please let me know the exact date of the costs. According to my analysis the next cycle ends on the 25 May 2019. Please confirm the percentage of the Value Engineering exercise cost included in the costs to date. For example, the Value Engineering exercise is expected to cost £1m, but only £200k has been included in the costs to date as at 25 May, then the response from you should be 20%. I would expect these costs to include TFL's project costs, all consultancy fees etc. Please include all accruals and expenses committed to.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31st May 2019 asking for information about the cost of the Rotherhithe crossing project.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

The total cost of the Rotherhithe to Canary Wharf crossing as at 25th May 2019 is £13m. This is based on TfL reporting period 2, 2019/20.

TfL does not hold the information to answer your second question. It is not possible to separate any costs incurred progressing ‘Value Engineering’ activities from the wider costs of developing the scheme. The cost of £13m for the Rotherhithe to Canary Wharf crossing to 25 May 2019 includes all costs associated with developing the scheme including where cost saving or value engineering opportunities have been explored as part of the design process.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
