You asked:

I request that TFL let me know the total number of PCNs issued at the Rotherhithe Tunnel Approach under the contravention code 52G since the new contravention came in to force last year.

The Rotherhithe Tunnel was built in 1908 and was not designed to cope with modern levels of traffic. We began enforcing critical safety restrictions which include a weight, width and height restriction in the tunnel on 4 February 2019 to ensure that people could continue to use it safely. Before that date, the new restrictions were widely publicised, through channels including targeted emails, press, social media, local stakeholder engagement and online travel advice. From 4 to 17 February 2019 we issued Warning Notices to drivers caught using vehicles which exceeded the 2000kg limit. The Warning Notices did not impose a financial penalty but did advise of the restriction in place and that an alternate route should be sought in future to avoid the issue of a PCN. We began issuing fines from Monday 18 February 2019. Penalties are payable at £130, reduced to £65 if paid within 14 days.

As of 24 May 2019 we have issued 59,738 PCNs to drivers whose vehicles were observed by our cameras on the northbound and southbound Rotherhithe Tunnel approaches which exceeded the width and weight restriction.

More information about the restrictions and alternative routes can be found on our website here:
