Please see this tweet sent by Metropolitan Police Bruce Grove on 2 June. https://twitter.com/MPSBruceGrove/status/1400027973496016899?s=20 They report removal of a 'Sheffield' cycle stand on Tottenham High Road, N17 close to Bruce Grove station. MPS say 'assist the council' (Haringey) but Haringey Council themselves have confirmed this was a decision by TfL: https://twitter.com/ContactHaringey/status/1402201242538070017?s=20 This would sound the logical process as Tottenham High Road is a TfL managed 'red route' and you can see a photo in MPS's tweet of one of your vans. Can you advise: 1. What ASB (Anti Social Behaviour) reports have occurred in the past to warrant it's removal? 2. Did TfL consult Haringey Council in making a decision to remove it please?

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-0561-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 June 2021, asking for information about the removal of bike racks from Tottenham High Road, N17.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You specifically asked:

  1. What ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour) reports have occurred in the past to warrant it's removal?
2. Did TfL consult Haringey Council in making a decision to remove it please?

The decision was made at a meeting, held on 20 April 2021, organised by Haringey Council and the MPS where TfL officers attended. At this meeting, issues around Holcombe Market in Tottenham were discussed, which included anti-social behaviour, including drug dealing and drug use, large gatherings, aggressive begging and street drinking. It was agreed at the meeting that TfL would ask our contractor to remove the stands within 6 weeks.

The reports of anti-social behaviour were made to the Police so we do not hold the records of these.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
