Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5th June 2022 asking for information about the Congestion Charge.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Following the previous request with ref:FOI-1438-1819/GH, it shows how much money is accumulated by the congestion charge. my request is, to see the most recent calculation of the congestion stealth tax.”
I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Note that this information is published each year in the TfL Annual Report and Accounts, copies of which are published online (see here for the latest report and previous versions: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/annual-report. The report for the year 2021/22 will be published shortly). As you can see, the data for the last three years is as follows (note that this is inclusive of charge income and enforcement income):
2018/19 = £229.9m 2019/20 = £247m 2020/21 = £316m
Net income from the Congestion Charge is spent on improving transport in line with the Mayor’s Transport Strategy.
