You asked

How much money has been saved due to fares on buses/trams being capped due to TFL Fare Hopper?

We answered

Our ref: FOI-0512-2425/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 May 2024 asking for information about money saved by the public due to TFL Fare Hopper.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

When the Hopper fare was introduced we estimated passengers saved a total of £43m per year. Since then the single bus fare and daily caps have risen from £1.50 to £1.75 and £4.50 to £5.25 respectively. Therefore the current amount saved will be closer to £50m.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
