FOI request detail

out of station interchange linking City Thameslink and St Pauls

Request ID: FOI-0504-2021
Date published: 30 June 2020

You asked

Dear Transport for London, Further to the recommendations in the London Travelwatch June 2014 report "Potential future transport projects for London" to build a passageway linking City Thameslink and St Paul's on the paid gateline side: In my opinion this is a critical link, not just in reducing unnecessary changes for those living on the Thameslink line but also in reducing load on Bank station as well as E&C Tube and the Northern Line. This has become more urgent with COVID and the need to spread usage across capacity more effectively. Please can you confirm if consideration has previously been given to implementing an Out-of-Station Interchange (OSI) linking City Thameslink and St Paul's and provide documentation of such consideration/outcome if so?

We answered

TfL Ref 0504-2021

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 June 2020 asking for information about an Out of Station Interchange between City Thameslink and St Paul's.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

You asked: Please can you confirm if consideration has previously been given to implementing an Out-of-Station Interchange (OSI) linking City Thameslink and St Paul's and provide documentation of such consideration/outcome if so?

To answer your specific question, there has been no such consideration given to implement an Out -of-Station Interchange (OSI) here; there is therefore no documentation available.

When considering the need for an OSI we take into account factors such as feedback from stations staff and suggestions or complaints to the TfL Contact Centre;  If these are received we will of course consider the matter.

Please note the Government has announced a series of measures to tackle the Coronavirus. It is essential for London, and in particular for all critical workers, that we continue to provide a safe transport network that enables them to make the journeys they need to.

In current circumstances, we are not able to answer FOI requests readily and we ask that you please do not make a request to us at present.

Answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. In any event, please note that our response time will be affected by the current situation.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely

Sara Thomas
