Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27 May 2022 asking for information about the cost of the infrastructure for the extension to the ULEZ.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
The income and operating costs of the ULEZ scheme that went live in April 2019 has been published in one of our FOI responses available via https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-4257-1718 . The implementation costs for the expanded ULEZ are currently estimated to be between £120 million and £130 million. This cost includes improved access to public transport, staffing and the signs, cameras and back office systems needed to make the scheme operational. The Mayor and TfL have sought to deliver the infrastructure needed to operate the scheme in the most cost-effective way possible.
