You asked
Hello,
I currently work for Surrey Police and have been told that we are able to travel for free on TfL services, however I was stopped at Waterloo Station the other day and told this wasn't the case. They also told me that I needed a special card to show them. (Other than my warrant card.)
Please could you clarify whether Surrey Police are able to travel on TfL services, and if so, which ones and when?
Many thanks.

TfL Ref: FOI-0429-2223
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 24th May 2022 asking for information about free travel for the police on TfL services. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Please could you clarify whether Surrey Police are able to travel on TfL services, and if so, which ones and when?”
I can confirm that Surrey Police officers do get free travel on TfL services, both on and off duty, in and out of uniform, on production of their warrant ID card. Surrey Police can travel on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, the Elizabeth line, London Overground, cable car and river services (Thames Clippers rather than the tourist boats). A reminder of this has been sent to Waterloo station staff and we will look to do a more general reminder to all stations shortly.
