Thank you for your request received on 28 May 2021 asking for information about TfL job applicants. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. Transport is a traditionally male-dominated sector, and while there has been an overall increase in the number of women working at TfL, we have not yet achieved our longer-term aspiration of matching the percentage of female economically active Londoners. We continue to work hard towards this, including though our employability and School Skills programmes, as well as apprentice and graduate recruitment, in order to address issues of under-representation, inequality, and discrimination. We are also continuing to focus on increasing diversity in areas such as engineering, and our recruitment figures are above the industry average. Further information on our workforce and what we are doing to increase its diversity can be found on our website: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/equality-and-inclusion-publications You asked for: • Applicants for every job type across TFL Female 29% Male 69% Not Declared (including Gender Neutral) 2%
• Applicants for engineering roles (Engineer in the job title please)
Female 15% Male 81% Not Declared (including Gender Neutral) 4%
• Applicants for managerial roles (Payband 3 and above roles, exc. all operational grades)
Female 25% Male 72% Not Declared (including Gender Neutral) 3% If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to contact me. If you are considering submitting a further FOI request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation. Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
