TfL Ref: FOI-0326-2122
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 May 2021, asking about the cost of the TfL Go app.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
How much were the development costs for the iOS and Android versions of the TfL Go app?
The costs associated with developing the app were estimated at £784k for the iOS version and £1.078m for the Android version (as at December 2020, the month that the Android app launched). Please note the amount of staff time spent on the app’s development has not been recorded across all departments involved and these costs therefore do not fully account for the cost of staff time.
If you are considering submitting a further request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI/EIR requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation.
