TfL Ref: FOI-0246-2223

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2022, asking for information about the closure of public toilets at Golder Green Bus Station.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. Specifically you asked:

Please provide details of the decision process relating to the closure of the public toilets at Golders Green Station (or where not specifically mentioned but included in a general decision regarding toilet closures in the tfl station toilet network), the people or bodies responsible for this decision (for example but not limited to, whether this was a decision made by an individual, station manager, or a board, including details of the board responsible), details of any public consultation regarding this matter and minutes (pertaining to this closure) taken from meetings in which this decision was discussed. Please provide this information regardless of the reason for closure (be it COVID or otherwise), and specify the reason. Please provide details (following the same steps as answering the question above would require), relating to plans to reopen or not reopen said toilets to the public.
Please provide details of any future consultation on the matter, particularly to gauge the impact on individuals who are unable to make it from their point of origin to their destination without using the toilet en-route and for whom these toilets are a necessity.

We remain erring on the side of caution to manage risks for TfL/Bus Station staff. Therefore toilet facilities at Golders Green Station will be driver only at present. This will be reviewed monthly along with our other facilities across London.

We haven’t been able to locate any meeting minutes and aren’t aware of a consultation being carried out. However, the attached Covid-19 risk assessment that was done for Bus Stations and Stands, provides details on why we had to implement some measures to keep station facilities clean and prevent transmission by touching contaminated surfaces.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
