Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 19 April 2019, asking for information about pest control on the London Underground.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:
I request the annual cost of pest control (regarding vermin - rats and mice), specifically 2018/19.
As it was explained in the previous response, we have several contracts that involve pest management across London Underground. The method of apportioning pest control costs varies according to the contract, as in some cases there is a specific contracted pest control service, whilst in other contracts, pest control is just one activity provided as part of a wider range of services for a larger contract fee.
Furthermore, the cost for pest control on the London Underground network is not exact as the requirements change with what pest we are trying to control and the different measures that may be suitable for individual pest or location.
Taking all of the above into account, our annual expenditure for pest control on the London Underground network, excluding track areas, was approximately £650,000.
