Thank you for your request received on 24 April 2018 asking for information about the recruitment campaign for Night Tube Train Operators.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

1) How many application did you receive for Train operator Night Tube (PT) 026620?

10,274.

2) Of those applications, how many were internal and how many were external?

There were 8815 external applications and 1459 internal applications.

3) From the those applications, how many candidates progressed to the online situational judgement test?

All 10,274 applicants were required to sit the situational judgement test (SJT).

4) From those taking the situational judgement test, how many were internal and how many were external?

As above.

5) What was the set benchmark to pass the situational judgement test?

95th percentile.

6) Of those who met the benchmark, how many were internal and how many were external?

All 1459 internal applicants progressed to the next stage, of the external applicants, 1611 met the benchmark.

7) Do internal candidates get preferential treatment in the recruitment process?

Internal applicants are not required to pass the SJT and get to progress straight to assessment.

8) Did all candidates who met the benchmark for the situational judgement test get invited to the next stage of the recruitment process?

Yes, all external applicants that met the benchmark were invited to the next stage.

9) Why are you not able to challenge the decision if you are not shortlisted?

As with all recruitment processes, you are required to meet the benchmark in order to get shortlisted.

10) How do you ensure the recruitment process is transparent?

Our candidate charter that is attached to all of our job descriptions outlines what to expect at every stage of the recruitment process. We want applicants to have the best recruitment experience so we will tell them about what we expect of them and also what they can expect from us.
