Freedom of Information request - Uniform Allocation

Request ID: FOI-0144-1920
Date published: 16 April 2019

You asked

F/on from FOI-3346-1819 Thank you for the information. It appears the quantity of uniform you have listed is only what can be put on one order. In other words, it's the maximum number of each item type as listed on the uniform requisition form. However I am aware that staff could submit another form later on, even on the next day, which would equal more than what you listed above. For example there is a limit to 1 cap per order, but someone could make an order with a cap in it today, and a new order with a cap in it tomorrow or in another month, and both orders would be honoured. It appears the information supplied is incorrect and isn't a true total of the items that can be ordered overall and how this is recorded. I hope you understand what I mean and can clarify.

We answered

The information supplied in our previous response is the current allocation limit for each item of uniform. If a member of staff tries to order above this limit, for example by submitting another uniform order form that takes the staff member above the limit, then this will be flagged to their local admin who process the order. The admin staff will pass on this information to the relevant Area Manager who can then either reject the order or use their discretion to approve it, thus allowing the member of staff to go above their allocation limit. The latter should only take place if there is a valid reason for this, such as if a staff member needs to replace a faulty item, is a new starter, has a change in body size e.g. due to pregnancy or health reasons.
