Maps showing bus delays in Lambeth & Southwark March 2021 onwards

Request ID: FOI-0108-2122
Date published: 29 April 2021

You asked

Please can you share maps of Southwark and Lambeth showing bus delays from the 8th March 2021 to the most recent data (or the closest possible reporting periods - please state clearly what periods of time these relate to) - comparing this 2021 data to the same period in 2019 (NOT 2020 as this would not be illustrative as the UK was in lockdown). I've had this very useful response - FOI-2489-2021 previously where TFL has very helpfully produced the type of maps I am looking for. Would it be possible to just have the data covering the following weekday times: 8am - 10am & 3pm - 6pm - if possible a map showing the morning period (8-10am) and a separate map showing the afternoon period (3-6pm). Monday - Friday only. Also, if possible, can the maps show the 'Journey Time per Kilometre change' over a wider range than just the range shown in the above FOI request (a wider range than <3 mins quicker to >3mins slower). In addition, would it be possible to get the raw bus delay data just for Norwood Road and Croxted Road please? Thank you in advance!

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-0108-2122 Thank you for your request of 15th April 2021 asking for information about bus delays in Southwark and Lambeth. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. Specifically you asked: “Please can you share maps of Southwark and Lambeth showing bus delays from the 8th March 2021 to the most recent data (or the closest possible reporting periods - please state clearly what periods of time these relate to) - comparing this 2021 data to the same period in 2019 (NOT 2020 as this would not be illustrative as the UK was in lockdown). In addition, would it be possible to get the raw bus delay data just for Norwood Road and Croxted Road please?” I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Please find attached four maps showing delays in the Southwark and Lambeth areas for the AM (7am-10am) and PM (4pm-7pm) peaks. These compare reporting period 13 of 2020/21 (8th-31st March 2021) with the same period in 2018/19 (4th-29th March 2019). The maps highlight the stop-to-stop links in these boroughs where the average bus journey times in period 13 this year were more than 30 secs per km different to those in the same period two years ago (green = better, red = worse). The averages are taken across the 4 weeks in each period, Mon-Fri only, and across the bus routes using that link. Note that the AM and PM peaks cover slightly different times to those requested (7am-10am rather than 8am-10am and 4pm-7pm rather than 3pm-6pm). This is the level of aggregation in our data so we are unable to provide the exact breakdowns requested. Also attached is a csv file showing average bus journey times by peak along Croxted Road and Norwood Road, for each week between 11th March 2019 - 9th April 2021. The averages are for weekdays (Mon-Fri) only, and are weighted averages across the bus routes running along the corridors, weighted by route frequency. Both corridors run between Brockwell Park and Thurlow Park Road. The Croxted Road corridor includes routes 3 & 201 and the Norwood Road corridor includes routes 68, 196, 322 & 468. The peaks are AM = 7am-10am, IN = 10am-4pm, PM = 4pm-7pm, 12hour = 7am-7pm. If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
