Our ref: FOI-0101-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 April 2017 asking for information on accessibility.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy.

I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require, however, we do not have figures for the total number of taxi and private hire trips taken by disabled passengers. There is no regulatory requirement for taxi drivers (who are self employed) or private hire operators to share journey information with us.

Some information is available in the most recent ‘Taxi and Private Hire Diary Report’, which is attached. Please note however that the survey took place in 2009 and the market has changed significantly in the past eight years. This survey contains both journey and disability information that was voluntarily provided by drivers and their passengers.

We publish information regarding transport trends, including cycling and the accessibility of our transport network. The ‘Travel in London Report 9’ also contains information on the number of private hire and taxi journeys made within the Congestion Charging zone (Table 6.6). Please note in 2007 values for private hire vehicles and private cars were recorded collectively. Our Travel in London Reports can be found here: www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/travel-in-london-reports.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely
