Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked for the following:

Please could you provide details of the number of motoring offences committed by London bus drivers in the past 5 years.

Transport for London (TfL) may issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) to any vehicle observed contravening a traffic restriction on the red route network. Bus services in London are run by private operators awarded a contract by TfL; PCNs are therefore issued to the private operators. Information about these bus operating companies can be found on our website at: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/bus-fleet-data-and-audits.

The following table lists the amount of PCNs issued and paid for each contravention over the last five years:

Contravention type 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Total
Banned Manoeuvre  1 5 1 1 7 15
Double Red Lines 11 15 9 32 15 82
Red Box 11 22 13 30 39 115
Single Red Line 2 2 3 2 3 12
Taxi Bay - - - 1 2 3
White Box 3 1 1 - 1 6
Yellow Box Junction 407 343 396 733 670 2549
Zig Zags 5 2 1 4 1 13
Total 440 390 424 803 738 2795

Can you also provide details by borough i.e where the offence was committed. Can you also provide the total cost of these offences.

I can advise that we do not record PCN issuing data via borough and therefore do not hold this information

PCNs are payable at £130 (£65 if paid within 14 days), as such the total value of these PCNs is £195,558.
