Our ref: FOI-0057-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 7 April 2017 asking for information about Emirates Air Line. I am sorry for the delay in replying.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. You asked:
1) how much the Emirates Air Line has collected in fare revenue, in each financial reporting period, from January 2016 (period 11, 2015/16) to the end of the 2016/17 financial year.
Please see the attached spreadsheet. (TfL reports on a 4-week period basis, rather than a monthly basis, with each financial year divided into 13 periods. Fare revenue is presented on this basis and is not available on a monthly basis).
2) how much the Emirates Air Line has collected in other revenues, in each financial reporting period, from January 2016 (period 11, 2015/16) to the end of the 2016/17 financial year. Please break down the sources of this revenue (merchandise, rent on concessions, sponsorship payments from Emirates, other individual sponsors, advertising, etc.)
The largest element of “Other Revenue” relates to Emirates sponsorship. Payments due to TfL (Docklands Light Railway Limited) under the Emirates sponsorship contract are given in Schedule 2 to that contract. This has already been made public through the TfL website and can be found by following the following link:
http://content.tfl.gov.uk/emirates-airline-contract.pdf
All payments falling due per Schedule 2 of this agreement have been paid in full with no deductions. Remaining payments will fall due in accordance with that schedule.
For ease of reference the operating date referred to is 28th June 2012.
Additionally there were very minor merchandise sales (Souvenir coins from a vending machine with an annual net operating profit of £5k in the latest year for which figures are available). Given the size of this revenue it is consolidated into fare revenue rather than separately identified.

There were no other individual sponsors, no rent on concessions (Aviation Experience is rent-free) and no advertising revenue.

3) the operating costs for the Emirates Air Line for each financial reporting period, from January 2016 (period 11, 2015/16) to the end of the 2016/17 financial year.
Please see the attached spreadsheet.
