The population of London is expected to rise from 8.6 million to 10 million by 2030. This will increase pressure on the city's infrastructure, including the river crossings that play a key role in moving people and goods around London.
Connecting the Capital sets out our vision for how 13 proposed crossings, including bridges, tunnels and ferries, will support this growth.
It showcases a number of proposed crossings for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and road users that will help to unlock the city's full potential, support thousands of new jobs and homes, drive economic growth and ensure that London competes with other global cities.
Subject to funding, new crossings will be developed across London. Most will be in east London, where population growth over the next 15 years is expected to be highest.
