On 31 March 2016 we submitted our application for a Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO). A TWAO would authorise the construction works and provide compulsory purchase powers for acquiring land and property interests, rights to use land on a permanent or temporary basis, and powers to complete street works and regulate traffic.
The TWAO application includes a request for planning permission for the BRE, including a new station at Barking Riverside.
It also contains a number of documents including a draft of the proposed Order with supporting plans, an Environmental Statement and a report summarising the consultation we carried out.
The Secretary of State for Transport has decided that a public inquiry into the scheme will be held starting on 18 October 2016. Check back here closer to the time for more details.
This decision follows our application for a Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) on 31 March 2016, when we asked for powers to construct and operate the rail extension.
Our plans are outlined on the Barking Riverside extension project page.
