The Quantity Surveying apprenticeship provides you with comprehensive, structured training over two years and gives you an introduction to a variety of areas.
For us, many aspects of quantity surveying involves estimating project costs, procurement considerations to ensure successful project delivery, tender document preparation and financially controlling projects once they make it to site.
This apprenticeship offers opportunities for placements around the business to gain a broad knowledge of different types of projects, and an understanding of what it takes to provide a transport system for London. You could find yourself working within the Rail and Underground, Surface Transport or our Commercial team in corporate services, helping to deliver some of the most exciting and challenging transport, rail, highway and engineering projects in London.
You'll work as part of a team on projects while interacting with other disciplines, like engineers, HR professionals, or project managers.
One of the biggest challenges we face is upgrading an infrastructure which dates back to 1863, while still running an efficient service. It also makes this an exciting time to be part of TfL; you'll contribute to our capital investment and on-going maintenance activities across the transport network, which could include other areas of the transport infrastructure such as London Overground and DLR.
As a member of our Commercial team you could play a part in delivering some of the most exciting and challenging transport, rail and engineering projects in London.
During your initial three-day induction (based in London), you'll be given a brief insight into the Commercial team and the role it plays in keeping London moving. Following that, you'll begin a structured development programme, designed to give your career a real kick-start. You will have six-month placements, where you will be working in a team with a support structure in place.
During your apprenticeship, you'll gain:
