Joining us

Initially, there is a three-day induction based in London which explains everything there is to know about us, the role and where you fit in. Following that, you'll begin an intensive development programme, designed to give your career a real kickstart.

Combining classroom, practical and on-the-job training you'll learn the skills needed to work as one of our health, safety and environmental professionals. This scheme also provides the basis for progression towards becoming a chartered health & safety or environmental professional.

You'll be involved in everything from our frontline operations and construction sites, to the boardroom. For example, within Operations you could find yourself leading a project to improve the safety of our passengers, or helping to prevent thousands of construction workers being harmed. In Management Systems, you could help re-develop the systems and procedures we have in place to prevent anyone involved in transport operations being harmed.

On this scheme you could work across any of the following:

  • Rail
  • Underground and Surface businesses
  • Central support services
  • Occupational health
  • Safety
  • Environment and Sustainability

Within each you'll be provided with the opportunity to meet and influence a diverse spectrum of people, increasingly contributing to the health, safety and environmental performance of our business as you develop

You will be working alongside experienced staff to build on the knowledge required for the role and gain experience from a diverse peer group.
