TfL took over the stopping services between Paddington and Heathrow terminals 2, 3 and 4, from Heathrow Connect and Great Western Railway (GWR). This is part of another major milestone for the Elizabeth line staged opening programme.
Currently operating as TfL Rail, these services will form part of the Elizabeth line when it launches in December 2018.

We also plan and fund improvements and extensions to the network, and are working closely with Network Rail, Crossrail Ltd and other stakeholders to improve the stations and trains we have inherited, and to build those we have commissioned as part of the project being constructed by Crossrail Ltd.
MTR Crossrail Ltd is the train operator appointed to manage and operate trains and stations on a day-to-day basis.
Some of the stations that have transferred to TfL Rail are outside London. These have been included because they are part of an existing rail route. It would have been impractical to take over the London part of these routes only.
We'll continue to work closely with our stakeholders to make sure that customers from outside London are accounted for as we develop our plans for our services.
TfL Rail does not affect the 'fast' trains that serve major stops such as Southend-on-Sea. These are still the responsibility of the government, and run alongside our services.
TfL Rail will turn into the new Elizabeth line in 2018. The Elizabeth line fully opens in 2019.
