Planning a journey
An essential part of every journey is planning. Adults tend to do this for young children with the result that children travelling independently for the first time often lack the necessary abilities of forward planning and map reading skills. This section contains activities that will give children experience of planning using TfL maps, thinking about what they will need to take with them on a journey and how much it will cost them.
Activities within this section will deliver the following National Curriculum Citizenship Objective:
1c children should be taught to face new challenges positively by collecting information, looking for help, making responsible choices and taking action.
