I studied for a BSc in information systems at Brunel University and graduated in 2008. Afterwards I knew I wanted to work in IT but wasn't exactly sure where, so I looked for a company where I would fit in and, more importantly, one I could identify with.

Facing technological challenges

When I came across the Transport for London (TfL) Information Management (IM) graduate scheme online, I was surprised by how large the department was and the breadth and scope of work that it undertakes. It was also an opportunity to deal with technological challenges that few other companies would face.

The organisation provides excellent training and development opportunities, including business analysis and project management professional qualifications as part of the IM scheme. It has also given me the chance to get involved with a wide range of projects and activities. The scheme is essentially what you make it, so I have taken the opportunity to drive it as much as possible.

Mentoring and support

I can confidently say that TfL is a great company to work for and the IM graduate scheme provides a good foundation for anyone looking to get more experience in this area. The organisation invests a lot in its people and is committed to seeing them succeed - graduates are well mentored and everyone is ready to help and support you when necessary.
