The Freight Operator Recognition Scheme reaches 40,000 vehicles

An estimated 12 per cent of the commercial freight vehicles working in London are now signed up to FORS.

The scheme launched in April 2008 with the first bronze membership awards in October 2008. A year later, more than 40,000 vehicles are part of the scheme - 29,000 of which have achieved bronze level.

FORS independently verifies use of best practice for safety, legality and fairness. It will award the first silver memberships on 30 November 2009 to operators that have demonstrated a commitment to reducing collisions, penalty charge notices, fuel consumption and CO2 by their use of the FORS benchmarking system
